A Photofacial is 30-40 minute procedure in which intense pulses of light (IPL) are used to penetrate deep into the skin.
What Can a Photofacial Be Used to Address?
The treatment can help repair small blood vessels that have become visible or help eradicate sun spots or other pigmentation irregularities. IPL helps reduce the appearance of acne scarring and is excellent at treating rosacea and other types of diffuse redness in the skin.
How Does a Photofacial Work?
Photofacials use pulses of light energy to encourage natural processes in the skin tissues. By treating a slightly deeper layer of the skin, IPL photofacials stimulate collagen protein growth by stimulating minor dermal injuries, thereby helping to improve skin texture.
What Is the Treatment Process Like?
Prior to your appointment for your IPL photofacial we ask you to avoid sun exposure for 2 weeks.
At the start of the procedure, gel is applied to the treatment areas. Dark glasses are placed over the patient’s eyes as a protective measure.
Our skincare expert then uses an IPL handpiece to direct pulses of light energy towards the treatment regions. The procedure involves minimal discomfort if any. The pulses can feel like little rubber band snaps to some patients.
After Your Photofacial Treatment
Patients do not need to experience any degree of downtime or recovery time after a photofacial treatment session. Instead, they can immediately return to their everyday schedule. Redness and swelling that sometimes occurs after treatment disappears shortly. Most benefits of a photofacial occur gradually in the weeks following treatment.
Multiple treatments are typically required in order to achieve patients’ desired aesthetic results. Treatments can be done once every 4-6 weeks.
Photofacial Cost
The cost of a photofacial treatment is $200 per treatment. We also offer a package of 3 treatments for $550.
