Laser hair removal is the process of removing unwanted hair by means of exposure to pulses of laser light that destroy the hair follicle. If you struggle with removing unwanted hair, you’re not alone. Many find it difficult to keep up with the time-consuming process of hair removal like waxing and shaving.
Preparation for Laser Hair Removal
At KH Plastic Surgery, we’ve mastered the process of laser hair removal and stand behind it as one of the best ways to achieve permanent hair reduction. Prior to a laser hair removal treatment, patients must abstain from tweezing, waxing or any other unwanted hair treatment that removes the hair from its root. Patients should shave prior to their appointment. Laser is attracted to the melanin, or pigment of the hair follicle. The hair must be in its anagen or active growth phase so the night before or morning of your appointment we ask you to please shave the area that you are getting treated. You should also avoid any sun exposure or tanning beds 2 weeks prior to your laser hair removal treatment.
Laser hair removal treatments can be done once every 4-6 weeks. This is necessary to ensure that the targeted areas are all in anagen phase during the treatment.
Which Areas Can Be Treated?
The following areas can be treated:
- Full face
- Full arms
- Half arm (upper or lower)
- Lower back
- Full back
- Full legs
- Lower legs
The Laser Hair Removal Process
The laser hair removal treatment session involves holding a handpiece against the skin and then administering laser energy to the area. During this painless process, the skin is kept safe from the heat of the laser through controlled cooling.
The amount of time it takes to perform laser hair removal is impacted by the number of treatment areas. Additionally, size plays a factor. Very small precise areas like the upper lip take only minutes to address. The back can take up to an hour.
Once the treatment process is complete, you will be able to return to your daily schedule without any need for recovery time or downtime.
You may notice a degree of redness or swelling in the treated areas. To help ameliorate these issues, it can be helpful to hold an ice pack to the areas.
In the time after the procedure, you should avoid tanning beds and prolonged sun exposure. Apply sunscreen with a proper SPF.
Laser Hair Removal Cost
The cost of laser hair removal is dependent on a number of factors. The price of the procedure is primarily affected by the number and size of the treatment areas.
I loved everything about my experience. Offices are stunning. There was no wait. The whole team is very sweet and accommodating. And the service I had done is still healing but, I’m already beginning to see results that I’m extremely happy with. I highly recommend. – Anonymous
