A tummy tuck can require a fair amount of recovery time in order to ensure you heal properly following your surgery. Pay close attention to the instructions your doctor provides you to ensure the success of your tummy tuck.

The incisions made during surgery will be dressed and bandaged. Your doctor may recommend placing an elastic band around your abdomen to improve support and reduce swelling. Fluids that build up in the abdomen will be carried out of the body using drains, narrow tubes placed under your skin. Recovery takes roughly six weeks.

Dr. Ari Hoschander provides his patients with specific instructions following the surgery, including how to apply any medication and how to maintain the drains. They will also schedule follow-up visits to ensure the recovery process is going smoothly.
